Consort of Secrets Consort of Secrets by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Witches are brought up to know that they cannot have a consort from any family other than one that is in the witching community and that they should keep their powers secret from the ordinary people. Rose Hallowell has been compliant with everything her stepmother has demanded but she still misses her childhood friends. When she returns to her family's estate to prepare for her consort ceremony she ties up with her friends again as they have never forgotten her. As she starts to look into thins she realises that she has been lied to all along and betrayed by her family. Determined to claim her magic and control over her life again she is prepared to break every rule she is expected to follow.

Wow - I loved this story. It had so much drama, danger and intrigue that I was hooked from start to finish. I could feel myself reading faster and faster as I just HAD to know what happened next. I was completely behind Rose and gunning for her to get past the betrayals and find happiness with her guys. I really hope there is a next book in the series as it looks like building up to something much more dramatic and intense than this one (if that is possible).

Review: EARTH-NET: The Dianian Chronicles Book 1 by David J. Garrett 4 of 5 stars

EARTH-NET: The Dianian Chronicles Book 1 EARTH-NET: The Dianian Chronicles Book 1 by David J. Garrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a dramatic story of how planets Earth and Diana are linked together using teleport nets to purify the earth's atmosphere by using the forests on Diana. Everything changes for the Dianians when Earth sells the whole facility to a company called Centauri Deep Space Exploration (CDSE). The story focuses around a Dianian called Ray and a cyber enhanced UN Marine called Jonah.

I found the description of the world and the people to be detailed and I was able to imagine and see it all in my mind as I read the book. The description of the characters in the story was clear although I did think it could have been clearer as I never truly understood what was involved in the breathing and language problems around the Dianian race. There was definitely drama in the story and I found the action built up until the end of the story. However the very end of the story felt a little like an anticlimax and a disappointment. Still a great read and very enjoyable.

Dragon Sol (High Lord of Solaria) has returned to marry his brides but ends up having to fight off an assassin. Jade is a member of the Assassin Academy and loves what she does. This mission however becomes dangerous for a whole list of reasons when their roles are reversed and their hearts and lives are both at stake.

I loved this story - drama and action from the very start and continued throughout the story. I defy anyone to read this and not want or need to know the rest of the story between Dragon and Jade.

Jane can see archangels - Michael, Lucifer and Gabriel - each with their own skills and talents. When a girl goes missing they help Jane to crack the case and find her - plus as a benefit Jane might gets what she has wanted herself.

I loved this story - it was such fun to read and a really clever concept to use for a RH story. The guys were described very well and it was easy to understand their differences, skills and talents. Jane was a delight and I only wish she was my friend as I know I would enjoy her sense of fun.

Appalachian Abduction Appalachian Abduction by Debbie Herbert
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Charlotte Helms is on a mission to rescue her best friend's daughter and she is happy to risk suspension and her career to find her and rescue her. James Tedder is a war veteran turned small town cop who he discovers and pulls a gun on him. Whilst he admires her when he is forced to be her partner trying to crack the child trafficking ring can her trust her to have his back let alone look after his heart?

This is a great development in the Appalachian world that this author has created where a surprising serious crime is right under their noses. There was just so much drama and danger wrapped with twists and turns as a sweet love story developed around the plot of this book. I really liked the way the story developed and how it progressed towards a grand finale at the end. Well written and very enjoyable.

Flint Flint by A.K. Michaels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flint is the bodyguard for his friend Victor but when Victor finds his bloodmate and sets off on honeymoon Flint is pushed to go on a holiday to Scotland but when he gets a strange feeling when flying over Edinburgh Castle he finds he is in danger of losing control for blood from mortals so seeks out the Mystique nightclub to try and sate his blood thirst. However he is shocked when he encounters Kenzie McBride and saves her from attack only to have a villain and his people bent on getting her back. However Kenzie is beautiful, injured and shockingly his Bloodmate so he will fight to the death to keep her safe from anyone and anything.

Wow - drama, danger and lots of action in this story of how Flint met his bloodmate Kenzie. Not so much romance in this story but it was all danger and doing what vampires and werewolves do best. I love the way the characters from previous stories are woven into this story so that you already knew the people in this one. Well written and I could feel the frustration and anger being felt by Flint through all of the drama.

Review: Order of the Regent: a Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance by Jasmine Walt by Melle Amade 5 of 5 stars

Order of the Regent: a Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance Order of the Regent: a Reverse Harem Fantasy Romance by Jasmine Walt by
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lorelai has never had an easy life especially after dark magic killed her family and then she has been married and caring for her rescuer the King who has been sick and deteriorating for years. When his brother murders him she is given the choice between marrying him or dying. So she flees for her life trying to find allies to conquer him. She has 5 protectors on her journey - 5 knights of the Order of the Regent but they are not enough as they face rejection from the great houses of Valliere and assassins are chasing them across the kingdom. They must not give in if life is not to change irrevocably from what is was before.

There was just so much drama and danger in this story. The brother is just so evil and Lorelai so pure while being strong it works perfectly as opposing worlds. The 5 knights are to die for and so honourable and brave. This was well written and very enjoyable. Everything was well described and I could see the world and the people in it clearly in my mind as I read it. A great start to this new series that shows great promise going forward.

Review: Dragon's Fate by Eva Chase 5 of 5 stars

Dragon's Fate Dragon's Fate by Eva Chase
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life is still not normal for Ren and her mates when supernatural race war seems even more likely as vampires decide that shifters should no longer exist and start taking action to ensure that is true. Whilst fire can destroy vampires and protect the shifters there is only one Ren so she can't be everywhere. She goes to look at the dragon archives in the hope it holds the answer although she will find it will make her question is knew about the new world she now lives in.

Wow - this was a great ending to the series. It still had the mixture of drama and danger as we expect from the series but it definitely upped the ante a bit and the relationships between Ren and her mates were good for the level of detail it added and showed how the dynamic would work in that situation. I liked the way it ended and hope that might lead to a new series so we get to find out what happens later. Well written and I could feel and and easily empathise with the thoughts and emotions from the characters.

** Please note this story contains scenes involving one woman, four men, and some sex.

** Please note this is the last book in a series and you probably ought to read the previous books to make sense of the series.

A GLEAM OF LIGHT A GLEAM OF LIGHT by T.J. Wolf
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Una Waters experienced an encounter at 30,000 feet on a flight when she was eight and it changed her from that point forward. 21 years later she returns to the Hopi Reservation she grew up on to answer a plea for help from a childhood friend. It appears that the US Army has become interested in a cave on their tribal grounds. She finds she has to try to prevent violence, deal with the General in charge and produce proof to register it for protection as an ancient site. As part of doing that she has to revisit the past and retrieve whatever the US Army is really there to find.

There are many layers in this story that are seamlessly woven together to build a story that chronicles the traditional clash between Native American culture, progress with a hint of something not of this world mixed in. A dramatic story that will pull you in so that you have a need to read the next story to find out what happens next. Well written and very enjoyable.

Rose's Boys: A Witch's Consorts Prequel Novella Rose's Boys: A Witch's Consorts Prequel Novella by Eva Chase

Their parents all work for her father but even though they are all have different talents she can't imagine life without them in her life. As they become teenagers the relationships between them has changed a bit but Rose has a new stepmother who is determined to stick to the social norms of the witch society - will Rose be able to see them still?

Great novella to set the scene for the new series by the author. It was heartwarming to experience to close bond between the childhood friends and the subtle ways it was starting to change. I definitely can't wait to read the first book in the series now as I expect it to be as well written as this was.

Since the incident 14 years ago Austin has been the rebound guy but when Piper comes back in his life he is desperate for a second chance with her even though he knows he should leave her alone. Can he make her love him again?

Great second story in the series about the band Reckless Release. I loved the shared history between them, the attempts by them both to resist the other and walk away, and then the gradual build up to a lasting friendship. The areas where they were both now grown up were a nice touch and showed how they had matured into better adults than they were as teenagers. The story had a good level of drama and excitement and I loved the ending. Great story well written.

Revik then comes up with the kind of plan that is just so crazy it might work but it has the potential to destroy everything they hold dear including the potential to sacrifice himself to keep the rest of his family alive. Allie tries to hunt Shadow’s network while forging a cross-race alliance but is also struggling with an infiltrator in her leadership team. When a new intermediary appears called Dragon, Allie realises not only is he broken but he is the most dangerous seer she has ever encountered. He is also set on hunting down Revik so she realises she needs to somehow protect him.

Wow – plots within plots in this story as Allie and Revik do everything they can to protect their family, friends and the world as a whole. There were so many twists and turns that you need to concentrate in order to appreciate the artistry of the story development. Needless to say there is danger, drama and excitement in large amounts throughout the story. The build up to the end was definitely dramatic and I was reading faster and faster needing to know what would happen next. Review: Sheba by A.K. Michaels 5 of 5 stars

Sheba Sheba by A.K. Michaels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sheba has broken a taboo in the Dark Moon Pack because she is the first female Alpha. It was not easy to get there and she had to fight hard and be much better than any male to get to that position - so she is determined for it to stay like that and not slip in her focus. Then she gets a hunger that makes her hunt and eat lots - nothing wrong with that surely as that it what a shifter was born to do right? Then she starts dreaming about the most magnificent Lion - strange - maybe she ate something bad? When renegades start becoming a problem she has a dilemma - she has to defend the pack and get rid of the renegades, but the pack healer says she has to go and find her soul-mate or go mad. Sensing her disbelief her beta Ray insists she must find the soul-mate and that he will go with her. Can she find him before the renegades?

Great story - and so nice to read another story in the A Wolf's Hunger collection of stories that is about a female Alpha and not a male one. It was nice to have a slightly different slant on the story which made it less formulaic and not a wolf or human for the soul-mate. It was well written and I could feel and empathise with the story as it unfolded. Loved it.

Taming Him Taming Him by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Alex Bishop is a typical Texan cowboy - hot to look at and a playboy who has manners too (thanks to his Mama). River Lancaster is a nurse that finds out after 6 months together that the man of her dreams is married. So she is persuaded to go to Key West in Florida to concentrate more on Margarita and less on men. However when she meets the right man for her can they both have the two weeks together with no strings attached and walk away or does the universe have different plans for them both?

A charming story with what appears to be two sections but it is a complete story. Alex was surprisingly charming and well mannered considering the way his behaviour was described at the start but he was actually a really nice guy. I liked the way the relationship between Alex and River developed and that there was a deep and true love between them (and not just a physical relationship). A nice read.

Joe Vampire Joe Vampire by M.J. Gardner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Joe has managed to beat his drug addictions, leave foster care and finish high school with the help of vampire girlfriend Evelyn. He might crave a normal life, but Evelyn craves him becoming a vampire too and as Joe can't even manage monogamy (or sticking to the one sex) so that kind of commitment is not likely. Everything unravels when he tries to help a friend be cured of multiple ailments and it goes wrong. As Joe blames himself he goes back to his old addictions - can he cope and how will it all end up?

Lovely continuation of the tales of Evelyn and Joe in this story showing how we need to conquer our demons and keep working at it and not become complacent. I enjoyed the drama and intrigue in this even though I found it a little bit depressing too. Well told and enjoyable.

The Book of Witches The Book of Witches by Margaret Fisher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Megan Conroy is a high school student when a near miss with a speeding car starts a series of changes which mean she has become a witch - initially she sees strange creatures and has recurring dreams before Finn a classmate has to save her from a demon and tell her what has happened. She then learns that she is an awakened witch as her trauma brought out dormant magic in her so she is what is known as a Witani (witch). She goes to Scotland for a study abroad trip as it has the same standing stone as she has been dreaming about and ends up having many adventures with the various races as she explores what she is now and what she will do when she completes high school.

Wow - so many things happened that Meg was on a bit of a roller-coaster as she gained in knowledge, had training and built relationships with the members of her new world now she is a Witani. I loved the love and good conquering against evil kind of theme and the ending was definitely nice although it left me wondering what happens next. An enjoyable read with plenty of detail of the new world she has now found and how it works.

Free Fall Free Fall by Emily Goodwin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nora Fisher has had a lot of bad luck in her life - her parents were killed in a car accident when she was six, and now her grandmother is in a care home so she is in the foster care systems while she finishes high school. As soon as Jack Harrington saw her he knew he was in love with and was unable to ignore this beautiful woman. Jack himself is damaged thanks to something from his past and it feels to him as if she is his light although he doesn't deserve her and is terrified he might drag her down into the darkness with him. After hurting her can he make things right after a 4 year gap or is it too late?

This is a lovely story that drew you into the world with them both and made you fulling invested in their relationship. They had a love but also a friendship and went through pleasure and pain together so this story will pull at the heartstrings as you read it. It's a full length novel so you will have time to enjoy the slow build-up and the details of the stories for both of them. You do get the view from both of them which makes it a complete stand along novel. Well written and very enjoyable.
